‘One o’Clock Gun was part of my education’

ONE of John Copland’s earliest memories of Edinburgh is of hearing a bang and seeing a puff of smoke at the Castle.

It was, of course, the One o’Clock Gun, which was a regular sight from his father’s house on Hanover Street. John, 90, also recalls a box of Meccano at his house, and he would watch his father and uncle playing with it at night. for more click here
