Sir Walter Scott
Walter Scott was born in Edinburgh on 15 August 1771 (a plaque at 8 Chambers St marks the approximate spot). His father (also called Walter) was a Writer to the Signet (solicitor); his mother Anne Rutherford was the daughter of a professor of medicine. for more click here
