The Scottish Railway Police

There have been ‘constables’ and ‘railways’ in Scotland for several centuries, but as to when ‘railway constables’ came about is a matter of conjecture. The earliest lines were ‘tramways’, usually serving to transport coal between mine and harbour, and manpower or horse traction (or ropes on steep inclines) was the order of the day. for more click here
