James Skene
James Skene, 1775-1864, is noted for a volume of sketches and watercolours and descriptive notes on Edinburgh proposed by Walter Scott and called ‘Reekieana’. (One of Edinburgh’s nicknames is ‘Auld Reekie’). Skene married Jane Forbes in 1806 and in 1816 came to live in the New Town. His connection with Edinburgh is as an artist and writer recording the historical events of the time.for more click here
