The Crucifixion
The Trade Guilds or Incorporations of Leith were dedicated to a Saint and were basicaly religous and trade organisations and so on holidays and the various Saints days the Mystery plays were performed in the streets of Leith up to 1560 at the time of the Reformation in Scotland when they were abolished. The plays were based on a religous theme however through time they gradually turned into comedy or low farce and so the preformances wasn’t always appreciated by the Church.
