Gravestones tell unique story about our society
WITH regards to the article concerning the building work, which is to be undertaken near North Leith Churchyard (News, August 3), your readers may be interested to know that the Scottish Genealogy Society recorded and published a volume of the monumental inscriptions from this churchyard in 2004.
The same volume also contains the inscriptions from New North Leith and South Leith Churchyards. The Scottish Genealogy Society, whose library is at 15 Victoria Terrace, Edinburgh, pioneered the recording of monumental inscriptions for family history purposes. The Society’s library contains Scotland’s largest collection of published and unpublished monumental inscriptions. for more click here
