Gallery in frame for £14m facelift
THE Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh is to undergo a £14 million revamp to increase massively its hanging space and boost visitor numbers, The Scotsman can reveal.
Some of the money will be used to turn old store rooms into display spaces for more than 150 paintings which are currently in storage. Much of the rest will be spent on televisions, computers, audio posts and artefacts to bring the collection into the 21st century
