Anger building over waterfront ‘rebrand’ plans

A BITTER row has flared over plans to rebrand Edinburghs waterfront amid claims a developers 5 billion pound master plan will destroy the identity of the port of Leith.

Forth Ports has been accused of treating the area with contempt in its 20-year blueprint for over two miles of shoreline.

Historian John Arthur has triggered a campaign of opposition to the Edinburgh Forthside scheme, which will see the creation of 24,000 new homes in Leith, Newhaven and Granton.

The creator of the leithhistory.co.uk website said the traditional face of Leith faced becoming like the lost continent of Atlantis under the developers plans.
